Thank you for visiting our website and your interest in our plans for Free Wharf.
In 2015, Southern Housing Group acquired the former Minelco site on the western arm of Shoreham Harbour. It is part of Shoreham’s old commercial port and a designated regeneration area.
Accessed via Brighton Road (A259) and overlooking the River Adur, the site benefits from close proximity to local amenities and public transport links.
Our objective is to develop a number of quality new homes, commercial spaces and amenities to meet the area’s growing housing needs and positively benefit the local community.
Southern Housing Group was established in 1901 as the Samuel Lewis Housing Trust and has grown to become one of the largest housing associations in the south east of England.
We house more than 68,000 residents, own and manage 28,000 homes and work with over 40 local authorities. In the Adur and Worthing area, our regional team based in Hove currently manages over 1,000 homes.
We employ almost 1,000 people, offer a range of housing options for rent and sale, and undertake a wide range of activities to improve the lives of our residents.
We do not distribute our profits – every penny we make is reinvested in new homes, improving our services and helping to transform people’s lives. By 2020 we plan to invest more than £800 million to build over 2,500 new homes in the south east of England.
We held three days of public exhibition showing our proposals on 11, 12 and 14 May. The feedback we received from this event was very useful. Having made a number of changes to our proposals, we held another two days of public exhibition on 1 and 3 December. The information we presented at these exhibitions is available here.
We would like to thank everyone who was able to attend our public exhibitions. If you would like to contact the project team or have any questions about our proposals, please do so using the form below.
